Mercure hotels don’t always have a lot of character, but they do provide comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price, and this 4-star hotel is well-located in the city centre. There are 120 rooms and 28 larger family apartments, as well as a restaurant and bar, though the busy place Saint Georges with its own bars and restaurants is just a short stroll away.

Excellent little 4-star hotel in the city centre, named after the pilot Jean Mermoz in honour of the local aeronautic industry. It has great character and while the rooms are basic they are comfortable, and there’s a very friendly atmosphere. The hotel is set back from the road through a courtyard area, and the 50 air-conditioned rooms all have free wifi access. We loved our stay here and recommend it without hesitation.

The name says it all, as this is indeed a grand hotel in almost operatic style, right on the city’s main square. The 4-star Grand stands opposite the theatre and the 17th-century building was once a convent. Distinguished guests have included Pavarotti, Jacques Chirac, Sophie Marceau and John McEnroe, which gives some idea of the hotel’s standards and quality.
